From Sea and Land... a story in the Atlantic
or rather to the coins that were minted and circulated on the European continent over time: the drachma, a Greek coin that persisted until the adoption of the euro; the denarius or denariithe Roman coin that prevailed during the Medieval period in various kingdoms and regions; the pound,the basis of the silver coinage system adopted in England and which subsisted in the areas of British influence; the guilder,the currency of the city of bankers which first became widespread and continued in the Netherlands; or the thaler,the silver coin minted by the House of Austria and which became globalised especially in the 18th century; among others will be displayed.
With this European tour, the MAH concludes the presentation of the donation of the Luís Filipe Thomaz Coin Collection, which began in July 2021.
