Ernesto Veiga de Oliveira – An Ethnologist in the Azores

An exhibition commemorating the centenary of the birth of Ernesto Veiga de Oliveira (1910/1990), featuring everyday objects, agricultural implements and musical instruments. They illustrate an ethnographic survey carried out by the ethnologist during the Azores Campaign in November 1963, carried out together with Benjamim E. Pereira, the main purpose of which was to complete the collection of Portuguese popular musical instruments. It was carried out on behalf of the Music Service of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
